Labour announce candidate for Chelmsford Labour Candidate for MP.
Chris Vince has been selected as Labour’s candidate for the Chelmsford constituency to stand in this June’s general election.
Chris Vince said "I am very honoured and proud to have the opportunity to represent Chelmsford Labour Party in this General Election. At the last General Election we moved Labour into second place achieving the best swing to the Party in the county.
I believe we can now build on this success and show that we are the only progressive alternative to the Tories here. In the coming weeks I hope to speak to as many of you as possible to show you that I am the right choice to be Chelmsford's next MP.
I have been a secondary school teacher across Essex for 12 years, this shows me why it is so important that young people have aspiration and a decent start in life. I want to fight for a Labour government which I know will strengthen our schools. I want to fight for a Labour government that will support small and medium sized businesses to grow, while ensuring large corporations pay their fair share of tax. I want to fight for a Labour Government that will protect our NHS and ensure everyone has the social care they need.
I care passionately about helping people and if elected as your MP in June will continue to work tirelessly to support my constituents. . I'll do this by holding regular surgeries, by continuing to campaign across our City and to hold the local council to account in ensuring that all new developments are infrastructure led and improve rather than hinder your lives.
I promise the electorate my dedication, my hard work and above all my honesty."
Speaking after the selection, Chris Vince said: “Chelmsford is my home. It’s where I live and work and I am proud to be Labour’s candidate for June’s general election.
This Tory government has overseen the biggest cuts to our public services in a generation. The NHS and social care is in crisis, our schools are struggling under the weight of the budget cuts and cuts to police budgets are putting our safety at risk.
People here in Chelmsford need a local representative that will put them first. I will work tirelessly between now and June to let local people know that this general election will be a choice between a Labour Party that will stand up for the people of Chelmsford or a Conservative Party that only looks after the privileged few.”
Richard Parry, Chair of Chelmsford Labour Party, added:
“I welcome the appointment of Chris Vince as Labour’s Candidate for Chelmsford for June’s general election.
“As someone who lives in the constituency, I know that if elected on the 8th June, he will put this area first and will be a committed and local MP – that’s what Chelmsford deserves.
“Over the coming weeks I will be joining Chris Vince on the campaign trail and am looking forward to supporting him as Labour’s candidate.” Ends
