Police Crisis on the Frontline

Our PCSOs are Vanishing

I want to start by saying I am personally in complete support of the sterling work Police Community Support officers do.  They build important links between the police force and local residents providing both a visible presents but also education to young people.  I am alarmed that cuts mean there are less PCSOs in our local areas.

What bothers me most is the mixed reports we hear from the Tory administration. On one hand they tell us it's ok to turn street lights out because most burglaries happen during the day and on the other they say that visible policing in our communities isn't effective. I would suggest that they are wrong on both counts but certainly can't be right on both.

Lets be honest if crime is happening during the day then PCSOs are vital in cracking down on this and alleviating the fears of residents. In fact when ever crimes occur and whatever they are PCSOs are so important and we need more of them not less!
