OFFICIAL: Richard Hyland stands as a Labour and Co-Operative Candidate for Chelmsford West

PRESS RELEASE - 30/03/17

For immediate release

Richard HYLAND has been selected as the local Labour & Co-operative party candidate for the upcoming Chelmsford West Essex County Council elections that will be held on Thursday May 4th 2017.

Richard Hyland, lives in Chelmsford, is a dedicated local campaigner. He has campaigned prominently since 2013 to highlight problems with potholes in Chelmsford's streets, which have suffered from an ongoing lack of investment. Hyland hopes that his work on the issues that matter to local residents will continue as a Essex County Council councillor.
Funding for local councils has been slashed by the government in recent years, resulting in cuts to vital services and rises in council tax. Conservative-run Essex County Council has failed to stand up to the Tories at Westminster and prevent damaging and unsustainable budget cuts. Labour in Essex will hold the council to account, fighting for the interests of local residents.

The Labour & Co-operative candidate, Richard Hyland, said "The Conservative council in Chelmsford are making mistakes. At a time when money is tight, it's more important than ever that Essex County Council has a strong opposition, holding the Tory leadership to account. As Essex County Council, increase your taxes, they are cutting services vital for our future. We need to be investing in our children and grandchildren's future, today. A Labour led Council will immediately review Children Centre closures to give Essex children and young people the opportunity for a best possible start in life."
